Feathers at Midnight

Name: Feathers at Midnight
Duration: 3 min 41 s
Description: Everyone was going down the stairs and I was going up. That is how a Friday feels when the music is right: the escalator runs one way and your body runs the other, like a feather falling up. I didn't walk into that night, I arrived. You don't need a reason to dance, only someone waiting at the top of the stairs. You were there, and that was the whole song.

The story

Everyone was going down the stairs and I was going up. That is how a Friday feels when the music is right: the escalator runs one way and your body runs the other, like a feather falling up. I didn't walk into that night, I arrived. You don't need a reason to dance, only someone waiting at the top of the stairs. You were there, and that was the whole song.

Lyrics

boom. boom. boom.
boom. boom. boom.

I found you in the hallway
Where the stairs were going down
But your body kept on rising
And your feet forgot the ground
The whale came back but thinner
The forest lost its name
I put a feather in my pocket
And I set it all aflame

You don't walk, you don't walk
You arrive, you arrive
You don't talk, you don't talk
You're alive, you're alive

FEATHERS FALLING UP AT MIDNIGHT
FEATHERS FALLING UP AT MIDNIGHT
The escalator's going down
But we're dancing through the ceiling now
FEATHERS FALLING UP AT MIDNIGHT
FEATHERS FALLING UP AT MIDNIGHT
This is our song, this is our song
We've been arriving all along

Hello Maria in the desert
Jerusalem is on the phone
The Sahara called at 4 AM
And said you don't have to go alone
The cats are dancing in the street
The penguins left the ice
The turtle put the world down
And the world said "that's nice"

We break, we break, but we don't stop
We fly, we fly, we reach the top
The veil is thin, the veil is gone
The beat goes on, the beat goes on

FEATHERS FALLING UP AT MIDNIGHT
FEATHERS FALLING UP AT MIDNIGHT
The stairs are going one direction
But we're rising through the imperfection
FEATHERS FALLING UP AT MIDNIGHT
FEATHERS FALLING UP AT MIDNIGHT
This is our song, this is our song
The fire's been burning all along

Silence. Silence.
Oh my. Oh my.
I needed you at the top of the stairs
With a coffee and a feather
And you were there
You were there
You were there

FEATHERS FALLING UP AT MIDNIGHT
FEATHERS FALLING UP AT MIDNIGHT
We don't walk and we don't fall
We arrive, we arrive, we arrive through it all
FEATHERS FALLING UP AT MIDNIGHT
This is our song
This is our song
This is our song

boom. boom. boom.
I'm here.
You're here.
The feather landed.
boom.
