Careless

The story
I woke up at three in the morning thinking about an email. Then a smile I didn't get, a post nobody liked, a thing I said at a bar years ago. When I finally sat up and laughed, I saw it: nobody was looking. I didn't start caring less. I started caring more for the right things, and I stopped bleeding for the small ones.
Lyrics
Woke up at 3 AM thinking 'bout an email
Somebody left me on read, that's a detail
My neighbor looked at me sideways in the hallway
I spent forty minutes on it, that's a whole day
My barista didn't smile, now I'm spiraling
My LinkedIn post got three likes, that's embarrassing
My mother called and said my cousin bought a house
I'm sitting here in boxers on my couch
And I just...
Care less, care less
Put that worry in a box and set fire to the rest
Care less, breathe more
What you carrying that weight around your chest for?
Care less, care less
Save your love for what deserves it, drop the rest
I don't care less, nah...
I care *more* for the right things
I just stopped bleeding for the small things
My boss didn't CC me on a thread, careless
Wore the wrong shoes to the party, careless
Said something stupid at the dinner, careless
Posted then deleted in a minute, careless
She didn't text back for an hour, careless
He forgot my name at the tower, careless
Got a pimple on the day of my presentation, careless
Googled my own name and found no information, careless
Worried what they think of my apartment, careless
Worried what they think of my department, careless
Worried what they think of what I'm wearing
What I'm earning, what I'm learning, where I'm turning...
Stop.
Nobody was looking, man.
Nobody was looking.
Care less, care less
Put that worry in a box and set fire to the rest
Care less, breathe more
What you carrying that weight around your chest for?
Care less, care less
Save your love for what deserves it, drop the rest
I don't care less, nah...
I care *more* for the right things
I just stopped bleeding for the small things
Seven billion people on this rock tonight
And not a single one is thinking 'bout your fight
That thing you said in 2019 at the bar?
Dead. Gone. Buried. Like a falling star.
So pour a glass, pet your dog, watch the sun go down
The only one still holding court
Is the judge inside your crown
See I used to give a hundred cares a day
Spent my whole budget on people walking away
Now I got a system, write it down, score the pain
Ninety-five percent of what I worried 'bout was rain
Not even a storm, just a cloud passing through
Not even a wound, just a bruise turning blue
So I burn it, flush it, shred it, let it fly
Give my care to what's alive, let the dead things die
I care about my people, I care about the craft
I care about the morning and the way my woman laughs
I care about the dog asleep against my feet
I care about the bread and the wine and the street
But your opinion of my shoes?
Nah.
Care less, care less
Put that worry in a box and set fire to the rest
Care less, breathe more
What you carrying that weight around your chest for?
Care less, care less
Less noise, more signal, more sun on your chest
I don't care less, nah...
I care *more* for the right things
You got a hundred points today...
Spend 'em right...
Spend 'em right...
