Too Loud to Be Alone
Nova Rai · Eyes on Me, 3 of 15

The story
My bedroom was so quiet it screamed when I breathed out. So I laced my boots and walked into a room where nobody knew my name, and the bass held my spine for me. I wasn't there for pleasure. I was there so I wouldn't go numb. Sometimes you lose yourself in motion and come back a little new.
Lyrics
It’s quiet in my bedroom
but it screams when I exhale
The silence shakes the windows
like a ghost that left a trail
So I lace my boots in rhythm
and I step into the light
The bass becomes a shelter
and the crowd becomes the night
No one here knows my name
That’s the point — that’s the balm
I’m a body, I’m a flame
And this noise feels like calm
Too loud to be alone
So I let the kick replace the moan
Every step becomes a breath
Every rhythm chases death
Too loud to be alone
But this silence is my throne
Let the bass forgive the past
Let the drop make nothing last
I dance like I’m dissolving
but I’m clearer than I seem
My tears mix with the strobe light
like a high-gloss lucid dream
You think I’m here for pleasure
but I’m here to not go numb
And I’ll trade a hundred heartbeats
just to feel the next bass drum
This floor is not salvation
but it helps me make it through
I lose myself in motion
and come back a little new
Too loud to be alone
But that’s the way I find my zone
Let the volume hold my spine
Let the light be my design
Too loud to be alone
So I sink into the tone
Every thump becomes a prayer
Every drop becomes repair
Maybe this is home now
Maybe noise is where I rest
Maybe silence isn’t healing
It’s just volume in a dress
Too loud to be alone
But somehow I feel known
With strangers close and lights that sting
I finally stop remembering
Too loud to be alone
And that’s the way I like it
Don’t whisper in the quiet
Let the beat be what ignites it
“Too loud to be alone…
but just right to be alive.”
