Through the Smoke
Nova Rai · Eyes on Me, 14 of 15

The story
I lit a match in a room full of mirrors and walked across the ash barefoot. Someone told me they'd love me when I softened. I wasn't made to soften; I was made to burn, to crack, to become. Not every goodbye is a loss. Sometimes it's just coming home to yourself.
Lyrics
“Not every goodbye is a loss…
Sometimes it’s just me…
Coming home to myself.”
I lit a match in a mirror room
Watched the flame kiss every truth
The past ain't gone — it breathes real slow
Like perfume trails from long ago
I walk on ash with naked feet
One breath forward, no retreat
Is this the end, or just the start?
Feels like I'm holding my own heart
Still I rise, I won’t choke
Through the silence, through the smoke
Through the smoke, I see the fire
Not of endings — but desire
Every scar became a sign
To the self I had to find
Don’t know where this road may bend
But I won't break — I’ll just transcend
I was born to bend and break
To burn, to lose, to recreate
I wear my shadows like a dress
Sang with ghosts I must confess
All those nights that cracked my voice
Became my sound, became my choice
You can hear me now —
Like the echo in the flame
Is this grief or liberation?
Not collapse — transformation
I won’t ask and I won’t cope
I’ll just move… through the smoke
Through the smoke, I see the fire
Not of endings — but desire
Every scar became a sign
To the self I had to find
Don’t know where this road may bend
But I won’t break — I’ll just transcend
I was born to bend and break
To burn, to lose, to recreate
“You said you’d love me when I softened.
But I was never meant to be held —
I was meant to burn.
To crack.
To scream.
To become.”
Through the smoke, I rise, I burn
Not to flee — but to return
To myself, my flame, my name
Through chaos, I became
Nova Rai — no mask, no lie
Just stardust with a battle cry
I was born to bend and break
To burn, to lose, to recreate
“Through the smoke…
I found me.”
