Stars in the Snow

The story
I came back for Christmas to the house where the candles once glowed, and the chimney was cold. I stood by the gate while the church bells rang late, and a carol drifted out of someone's window like you singing to me. Time has taken almost everything we had. But not the warmth. Love doesn't fade, it hides in the trees and falls with the snow.
Lyrics
I came back for Christmas, to where the candles once glowed
Where we danced in the frost, where the soft lights showed
The tree in the window, the wreath on the door
Now it's only the wind and the echo of before
The chimney was cold, but I stood by the gate
As the church bells rang out like they always rang late
There's a ghost in the silence, a glow in the white
Like you left me a gift in the hush of the night
And you are the warmth I always knew
The light that pulled me safely through
Though time has taken all we own
I still see stars in the snow
Yes, I still see stars in the snow
A carol was playing on someone's TV
It broke through the hush like you singing to me
And I swore I could hear it, your voice on the breeze
Through the frostbitten trees and the old melodies
Maybe love never fades, just hides in the trees
Or rides on the sleigh bells in December's freeze
And maybe your soul is the fire I feel
When the world falls quiet and Christmas turns real
You are the warmth I always knew
The spark that keeps my spirit true
Though I walk this road alone
I still see stars in the snow
Oh, I still see stars in the snow
Falling slow
Stars in the snow
This Christmas, you're still coming home
