Her story

Nova Rai is a singer from Haresalam, the world at the threshold, where it is always 3:33 and there is no sun. In Haresalam the dreaming is sung.

When she sings, the whole song leaves one throat, drum and bass and all, and a village that had gone quiet wakes up.

She travels with a dark coat, a small pack and boots. She counts the exits before the soup arrives. People think she is running. She isn't. Every lit room is a question, is this it, and it never is, so she leaves, and the leaving looks like flight.

She has two voices. The stage voice, that wakes villages and leaves bills behind it. And the one she keeps for nobody, sung at the volume of a secret in rooms above inns. That is the one that crosses walls.

She does not travel alone for long. Naimor, the pilgrim, walks the same road with a dog at his heel. Charlie C, the shadow, keeps the cave and the fire. You will hear them both on her songs.
