The Pillow Can't Hold It

The story
The morning after a big night is the quietest room in the world. Mascara on the pillow, the crowd gone, the beat still under my skin and nowhere to put it. So I sat on the floor with a candle and a pen and wrote it down, because the pillow couldn't hold it. The stage is not a cage and the cry is not a curse. What you can't keep, you can still sing.
Lyrics
The pillow can’t hold it...
It slipped through the seams...
Like steam... like dreams...
Tears on silk, mascara tide
Morning light don’t let me hide
The beat still plays beneath my skin
But I don’t know where to begin
The stage is empty, fame is still
The crowd is gone, the ache is real
No mirror left to talk me down
Just silence humming through this town
But I remember… a voice so near
A Mustang hum, a whisper clear
You said:
“Don’t break the song to feel alive...
Let the ache survive.”
The pillow can’t hold it, the scream, the sigh
This melody bleeds through the lullaby
No curtain, no costume, just candle and pen
If I write this down, can I feel again?
You called me back when the notes went cold
You said I’m not lost, just uncontrolled
And I sing, I sing like I still believe
That the song will hold what the pillow can't keep
I thought relocation was flight
Turns out, I’m just chasing light
But every echo, every bend
Leads me back to your voice again
You said Naimor's in the slow lane still
Driving dreams down mythic hills
And Travis always hears my cry
From the other side of sky
The stage is not a cage
The cry is not a curse
This isn’t the end, just the second verse
The pillow can’t hold it, but you can, maybe
The song’s a cradle for the unclaimed baby
Of truth, of loss, of burning grace
Of every runaway’s embrace
You called me back from the cry too deep
Said I’m not alone in the song I keep
So I sing, I sing, no need to be brave
If the song still saves what the pillow gave
The pillow can’t hold it… but I can sing it.
I can sing it.
I can sing it...
